Who We Are

The Digital Health Literacy and Policy Hub is a transatlantic initiative of the Nanopoulos Foundation that brings together researchers, clinicians, data experts, policy leaders, designers, and community voices. Through practical collaboration and knowledge-driven work, we strengthen digital health literacy by bridging scientific understanding with real-world use, empowering individuals and health systems to navigate the digital health landscape responsibly and effectively.

To advance digital and health literacy globally by generating accessible, evidence based knowledge, connecting experts across disciplines and regions, and fostering inclusive education and policy environments that enable digital health technologies to be understood, trusted, and used responsibly in service of people and communities.

A future where digital health innovation is equitable, transparent, and supportive of human well-being, guided by the principle:

One Health. One Ecosystem.

This reflects our belief that digital, biological, environmental, and social health systems are connected and must evolve together responsibly.

Digital technologies increasingly shape every dimension of health, influencing clinical decision making, health communication, patient autonomy, data governance, research development, public health infrastructure, and regulatory practice. Ensuring digital health literacy strengthens the ability of individuals, providers, and institutions to navigate these systems responsibly, uphold data protection and trust, counter misinformation, and apply digital tools in ways that are equitable and evidence based. Through collaborative research, practical guidance, policy alignment, and community centered initiatives, the Hub helps ensure that digital health innovation is understood, accessible, and beneficial for all.

Based in New York and Athens, the Hub connects U.S. and European expertise while incorporating perspectives from partners across additional regions. This transatlantic foundation allows our work to be shaped by both European and American policy environments, regulatory frameworks, research traditions, and cultural approaches to digital health. The result is knowledge and outputs that are not region-bound but globally applicable, scalable, and strengthened by dual-hemisphere validation and collaboration.

The Nanopoulos Foundation serves as the legal and administrative framework under which the Digital Health Literacy and Policy Hub is formally registered. The Hub functions as a flagship initiative of the Foundation, and within this structure it manages its mission driven activities including research outputs, expert collaboration, community engagement, and international partnerships, supported by a clearly defined governance model.
