The Nanopoulos Foundation co-sponsored a United Nations side event during the 9th Session of the Conference of States Parties to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (COSP9), organized by the Permanent Mission of Greece and the Permanent Mission of Latvia to the United Nations. The discussion brought together policymakers, advocates, and community leaders to explore how emerging technologies, including AI, can support more inclusive societies while protecting the autonomy, rights, and dignity of persons with disabilities. A particularly powerful contribution came from disability advocate Hector Acevedo, an active member of our Foundation’s AI Health Literacy Hub program. whose personal story reminded participants that innovation must remain grounded in human experience, resilience, and empathy.
