A recent paper, on Using Protein Microtubules for Quantum Computation, has been highlighted by European Physics Journal Plus (Nature/Springer editions) “On the potential of microtubules for scalable quantum computation”.
This groundbreaking research, led by Distinguished Emeritus Professor Dimitri Nanopoulos, together with his colleagues Nikos Mavromatos and Andreas Mershin builds on the foundational work of “Theory of Brain Function, Quantum Mechanics and Superstrings” (1995) by Dimitri Nanopoulos.

The study explores how microtubules in neurons, acting as natural quantum processors, could be scaled up, potentially overcoming one of the biggest challenges in quantum computing: maintaining coherence. This opens an entirely new pathway for developing quantum technologies inspired by the brain.
A brilliant example of how fundamental physics and neuroscience can come together to push the boundaries of computation!
